Asking customers to register before they send a request

Updated 19 August 2026

You can ask that whoever books a table, reserves a collection slot, asks for an event quote or sends a WhatsApp order tells you who they are first. It is off for every restaurant until you turn it on.

Turning it on: 1. Open Profile, then the Bookings tab. 2. Tick "Ask customers to register first". 3. Save. It applies to all four kinds of request at once.

What the customer sees: 1. They fill in your form as usual and tap send. 2. A short box appears on top of it asking for their name, mobile number and email. Nothing they had typed is lost — the form is still there behind it. 3. They get a code by email and type it in. 4. Their request goes straight through. They are not asked again on that phone.

Reading the menu and building an order for a waiter ask for nothing. This applies only to the four requests that reach you.

What they get out of it. "Your account" appears behind the More button on your menu, listing every request they have sent you and where each one stands: the table they are waiting on, the quote you sent, last week's order. Before this, a customer who closed the confirmation message had no way back to it.

Worth knowing before you turn it on: - Asking for a registration loses some requests. Some people will not give an email address, and some will not bother. If your bookings drop after switching it on, this is why. - The registration is with your restaurant only. Someone registered with you is a stranger at the next restaurant on MenuBooklet, and no restaurant can see a customer's dealings with any other. That is deliberate: your customer list is yours, and nobody else's is readable from your page. - The email address is required, because that is where the code goes. Without it, anyone who knew a mobile number could read that person's bookings and orders. - On a phone shared at a table, "Sign out" is at the bottom of their account panel.

Turning it off again stops the asking immediately. Anyone who already registered keeps their account and their history.
