You sell the card. MenuBooklet issues the code, remembers what's left on it, and lets your customer spend it against an order.
That first sentence is the important one: no money passes through MenuBooklet. Someone buys a gift card from you at the counter, by bank transfer, however you already take money. You then issue a card here for that amount and give them the code.
To issue one: 1. Open Gift cards and enter the amount. 2. Optionally note who it's for, and set an expiry date. 3. Tap Issue. A code appears — copy it onto a card or send it to the customer.
The code is generated for you and cannot be chosen. Whoever holds a gift card code can spend it, so it has to be unguessable — twelve characters, with no letters that can be mistaken for numbers when someone reads it off a card.
Gift card or voucher? - A gift card keeps whatever is left. Spend 12 of a 20 card and 8 stays on it for next time. - A voucher is used up on the order it's spent on, whatever that order was worth. That is what "a 20 voucher" means to the person holding it.
Tick the voucher box when you issue it. Everything else works the same.
How customers use it: In their order, above the total, there's a Gift card number box next to the discount code box. They enter it and the total drops. Both the code and the amount come through on the WhatsApp message you receive, and their screen tells them what's left on the card.
If they also have a discount code, the discount comes off the price first and the card pays toward what's left — the same order a till would do it in.
When an order is cancelled: Open the card, tap History, and put the amount back. The entry stays in the history marked as returned, so you can always see what happened. This is the one thing to remember: if you don't fulfil an order that used a card, put the money back, or your customer has lost what they paid for.
Stopping a card is not a refund. It stops the code working and leaves the balance alone — use it for a card you believe has been shared or stolen.
Cards are issued in one branch's currency and can only be spent where that currency is priced. A card is never converted, because converting would mean inventing an exchange rate you never agreed to.
