A bakery's best selling point is the one thing a printed menu can never say: this came out of the oven twenty minutes ago.
How it works: 1. Open Menu and find the item. 2. Tap the 🥐 button beside it the moment a tray comes out. 3. Your menu starts counting from that moment — "Just baked" for the first quarter hour, then "Baked 40 min ago", then "Baked 2 hours ago".
Tap it again for the next batch and the count restarts. You never have to turn it off.
That last part is the point. Every timer is set to switch itself off after a window — four hours unless you change it — and once the window passes your menu simply stops mentioning freshness. So the badge can never be left claiming that this morning's bread is fresh at nine in the evening, which is the failure that would cost you a customer's trust rather than win it.
To set a different window, open the item and use "Show for" in the Freshly baked timer box. An hour suits a croissant; twelve hours may suit a sourdough loaf. The same box tells you exactly what your menu is showing right now, including when a timer has already lapsed.
Two details worth knowing: - A sold-out item never shows the badge, however recently it was baked. - If the item also carries the "Fresh today" badge, the live timer replaces it while it runs — the precise claim beats the vague one.
The counting happens on your customer's own phone, from the moment they are looking. Nothing is cached and nothing goes stale between them and the oven.
